Pupil voice

School Council

Our School Council has 2 children from every class representing the voice of children at Stonelow. Children put themselves forward for a whole class vote, modelling the voting process and a democracy. School Council members meet every week with Mrs Collins  and lead the School Council Celebration Assembly every Thursday.

SC bring lots of new ideas to the assembly but at present we have:

  • Music chosen by our members
  • Star of the week awards
  • Good work awards
  • Questions/Suggestions
  • Notices and messages
  • Wheel of Names

Each class elects two children to be their i-vengers for the year. These children are the online safety heroes and are available for anyone within their class or across school to ask questions or seek advice about any aspect of staying safe online. They meet at least once a fortnight and work closely with Mrs Dent (computing and online safety lead). During the year, the children are also tasked with:

  • Helping others within computing lessons where they can use their subject knowledge to aid others in different year groups.
  • Helping to run the school's participation in Safer Internet Day (each year in February) by choosing tasks for their class to take part in, and delivering an assembly in school.
  • Preparing and delivering other assemblies throughout the year on topics which are current and relevant to the children - chosen by the i-vengers.
  • Coming up with new ideas of what to ask to our online safety and computing topics - any new technologies introduced to school are tested out by the i-vengers first.
  • Taking responsibility for the mobile devices in school, ensuring they are used in a safe and respectful manner.

Eco Committee

ECO committee is made up of representatives from every year group. They meet to help the school REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE. We are working hard to maintain our Green Flag status.

Our ECO Council support all of these things:

  • Energy monitoring
  • Food waste
  • Litter picking
  • Parking
  • School Garden
  • Plastics - we are part of the Plastic Free Dronfield project too!
